"I still don't know how I got back-to-back poison ivy from growing Dahlias in my Hudson Valley garden. But the fear of accidental exposure (for a third time) kept me inside for months.

To break the spell, I needed gardening gloves that didn't leave me so exposed. Every pair I ever bought fit poorly and stopped at the wrist—an invitation for irritants. Anything with more protection overcorrected with bulk suited for summiting Everest, not of sowing lettuce. Either option was too risky.
