Wooden Spoon Herbs
Founded in Chattanooga, Tennessee Founded by Lauren Haynes
Before there was Wooden Spoon Herbs, there was Lauren Haynes, a fascination with wild plants, and a whole lot of curiosity about the things growing right outside her door.
Growing up in Tennessee, Lauren was drawn to the natural world. That curiosity eventually led her to study herbalism at the Appalachian Center for Natural Health, where she spent three years learning about traditional plant medicine, phytochemistry, and the healing traditions of the American South.
But it wasn't rare or exotic ingredients that captured her attention. It was the humble stuff. Nettle, dandelion, burdock, and other plants that grow abundantly in fields, gardens, and along roadsides.
In 2014, she began making small batches of herbal remedies and selling them at local markets. What started in her kitchen eventually became Wooden Spoon Herbs, a collection of herbal tinctures, teas, powders, and everyday wellness products designed to make herbalism feel a little less intimidating.
Lauren's philosophy is refreshingly simple: herbalism belongs to everyone. You don't need an elaborate routine or a cabinet full of mysterious ingredients to begin learning about plants.
Wooden Spoon Herbs makes space for a more curious, approachable relationship with the natural world, one that feels as much at home in your kitchen as it does in the woods.
And really, who doesn't love the idea that something wonderful might be growing right under their feet?
